In the letter to Cramer, how is being a North Dakotan a badge of honour? [on hold]

Recently there was a letter to Cramer which includes Domestic violence and ends with bravery or a badge of honour “We are all North Dakotans. We are all Prairie tough.”

It is available here too, but based on comments, some users in some areas may not have access to any of this material.

Here is a snippet:

That is prairie tough.
We are all survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, or rape.
We are all North Dakotans.
We are all prairie tough.

Now, if Spartans are attacked by Corinthians (for example), Spartans may invoke their honour by saying “We are Spartans; We are tough; We will not retreat”.
Or if an Ape Army attacked Humans (another example), we might say “We are Humans, we are masters of Earth”.
The two sides of the fight are not overlapping.

But in this case, the victims as well as culprits are North Dakotans, both of whom are Prairie tough.

In the letter to Cramer, how is being a North Dakotan a badge of honour ?

[[ One answer which comes to my mind is, this is Politics; It may not make logical sense; As long as it is emotional and makes people vote in favour, it is enough ]]

Badge earned info overflows out of div on Stack Overflow ‘User Activity’ page [duplicate]

This question is an exact duplicate of:

  • “You’ve earned (badge)” panel layouts are broken

If you go to your user profile on Stack Overflow (and presumably other SE pages) after earning a new badge the box that tells you about it has out of bounds content:

Overflowing content

As you can see, the text at the bottom is cut off.

Here is my system information:

Chrome 69
Windows 10
1920x1080

And for clarity, this is the URL I am seeing this on – while logged in as that user: https://stackoverflow.com/users/635522/bananaapple

If there’s anything else you need to know let me know 🙂

“You’ve earned (badge)” panel layouts are broken

When I visit my activity page I see this:

two sections on the page have their appearance broken

  • The “Congratulations! You’ve earned (badge)” section has dropped down completely beneath the tabs under it.

  • The “You’ve earned a new privilege!” section has a gap at the bottom:

small space inside the box beneath the button

Shog9 says in comments how to reproduce this:

Gotta have earned a badge, not dismissed the notification, and be looking at your own profile.

No gold badge for revival/necromancer/… pattern?

I recently answered a question that was several months old, and my answer was accepted. I thought this would earn me a badge, but upon looking, realised the badges were issued for upvoted answers, rather than accepted answers, fair enough I suppose as an answer may have already been accepted. However I did think it strange that there seems to be no gold version of this chain (e.g. 25 upvotes on an answer provided 90+ days after the question was asked). Does anyone know why there is no such badge?

UPDATE

Using EdoDodo’s data query, here are some potential awardee numbers:
25 votes, 90 days = nearly 900 users
50 votes, 120 days = 250 users
100 votes, 120 days = 60 users

So now another question presents itself: How many users should a gold badge be awarded to, approximately?

Score/Answer, for any tag badge explanation [duplicate]

This question already has an answer here:

  • Understanding Tag badges

    2 answers

I am an active answerer on Swift, iOS, Swift4 Tags.

I am trying to get a badge of one of those, currently sitting on Swift tag with those stats

19/100 score

39/20 answers

i have 800+ total points so at least a 100 earned from Swift Tag but those stats seems to be never updated,

am i missing something ?
how to achieve this. i already see the part ( non-Community Wiki )
and the questions are not community wiki or the answers, so can someone please explain

Why are accepted answers not included in the tag badge calculation?

For the 400 votes tag badge, does it take into consideration answers marked as the accepted answer? The description indicates it does not.

I would think an accepted answer would be worth more, or at least the same amount, towards getting a tag badge than just a simple upvote? Lots of users mark answers as accepted and do not bother giving an upvote since the 15 points is like and upvote and a tip.

So it’s possible for a user to have 400 accepted answers with no upvotes and not get a badge where a user with 400 answers (which could be right or wrong) with a single upvote and no accepted answers ever would get the badge. Just seems a little odd or does accounting for accepted answers make the badge calculation too complicated / slow?

Edit: Questions you ask and submit an answer to shouldn’t be counted towards the total for accepted answers.

Edit: It just seems to me that the most important thing in the system is an accepted answer yet there are no badges for achieving more than one accepted answer. If up votes were more important, and therefore far more worthy of a badge, then why do the top voted answers not appear above the accepted answer? When it come to badges, accepted answers are second class citizens as compared to a possibly random upvote.

I have seen many upvotes on completely wrong answers but rarely do I see an accepted answer that was completely wrong.
