Is possible to change firmware of ev3 brick?

I bought LEGO 31313 but I would like to change the firmware for education (45544).

1.09H to 1.09E. Is this possible?

Why do I not have the Brick Datalog app in the LEGO Mindstorms EV3 V1.10E firmware?

I realize a similar question has been asked (you can view it here) however mine is slightly different.

I have a Lego Mindstorms EV3 Home Set 31313 and due to recommendation, I installed Lego Mindstorms Education EV3 Student Edition. I later changed my firmware on my EV3 to V1.09E. The next time I updated my firmware, however, I was unsure that the software was not installing the latest version so I ended up installing V1.10E using EV3 Manager. So it was to my surprise that the Brick Datalog app had disappeared!

Is there any way for me to get my app back without, of course, performing a downgrade and removing the ability for me to use Microsoft PXT?
TIA!

Ideas for securing decorative trim to brick

I have what looks like a 10″ x 3/4 board with some crown trim attached to the brick above my garage. It is currently attached with square cut masonry nails, and part of it is loose.

Trim over garage

I’d like to remove it to repair some rotted crown and prep and paint, and I’m looking for good ways to reattach it so it can be easily removed in the future. Ideally without visible fasteners on the front edge.

The trim is as long as the two car garage, so its a bit awkward to work with.

The masonry nails are out, Tapcon screws are my usual goto, but don’t lend themselves to repeated removal and have bright blue heads. Exterior paint would also gum up the threads. Some type of wooden cleat behind it would still have to be painted and maintained.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Bricx Command Center says “No connection to the programmable brick”

I saw that Laurens Valk in THE LEGO® MINDSTORMS® EV3 DISCOVERY BOOK thanks John Hansen for the EV3 screen capture tool, and, upon further investigation, I found and installed Bricx Command Center.

Upon opening the program I saw the Find Brick dialog:

Find Brick Dialog

However when I clicked OK I saw the error, “No Connection to the programmable brick. Certain options will be unavailable.”

I have tried all three ports as well as both “Standard” and “Other” firmware options. The help menu didn’t help. All my other EV3 related programs and the operating system itself seem to have full connectivity.

brick jointer with springy blades

I saw a video where the mortar on brick steps was being repaired. The jointer being used had flexible, springy blade-tips, not rigid ones. I’m looking for the name of that tool. What is that style called?

Direct vent boiler exhaust exiting close to brick chimney

The exhaust vent for our Burnham Spirit direct vent boiler currently exits very near the junction box where I recently installed an IR-triggered motion-sensitive floodlight. The hot air is causing spurious triggering of the floodlights all throughout the night. I’d like to rotate the two 45-degree elbows 180 degrees (pointing to the right) to get some extra distance from the vent to the sensor.

current vent configuration

The tricky thing is the (defunct) brick chimney in the right of the picture. With the current configuration of elbows, there will be only 4″ of clearance between the end of the pipe and the brick. Is this going to cause any problems? The only guidelines I can find concern distance to combustible material, which this change in configuration won’t affect.

Note that the air intake in the lower right is the combustion air intake of the boiler and thus I believe exempted from any clearance requirement for the exhaust, which would now exit about a foot above it.
