来 vs 去 usage for the speakers movement towards a place

So I know that 来 is used for actions that is moving towards the speaker and 去 is away from the speaker but I don’t know if I am moving towards a place I would use 来 or 去
For example: I go to Paris will be “我去巴黎” or ”我来巴黎”?

No sound on laptop speakers on an Acer Aspire 6920

Computer: Acer Aspire 6920

Card: HDA Intel

Chip: Realtek ALC889

My problem is that the laptop build-in speakers don’t play any sound. When i plug in my headphones the sound works normally, the same goes with external speakers. Those work normally like the headphones.

The profile in the Sound settings is Analog two-way Stereo.

I am using Ubuntu 12.04.

Might trere be any problem with my sound drivers or something similar?

Any form of help appreciated.

How can a non-native English speakers do well on essay portion of TOEFL / IELTS, etc….? [on hold]

How can a non-native English speakers do well on essay portion of TOEFL / IELTS, etc….? While anyone can learn English, it takes years of learning and practice to attain a certain level of English proficiency and confidence. They can learn the essay structure, but the essay topic can be anything. They need a rich vocabulary to deal with it.
So yea, do tell me what you think. TIA!

Sound playing through speakers when headphones are plugged in

My computer model is an Acer Aspire Timeline U currently running Windows 7 Enterprise.

My headphones are in perfect working order, but recently when I have plugged them into my laptop, the sound comes out of the speakers instead.

I have been to my high school’s I.T. department about the matter. They say that there appears to be food inside the headphone jack, and that the switch which activates when headphones are plugged in and deactivates when they are unplugged is failing to activate. According to them, the headphone jack is connected to the motherboard and thus all in all, I will need to cough up $282 to fix the problem. Aside from personal expense, what guarantee do I have that after paying to have the headphone jack fixed it does not end up needing fixing again?

Is there a cheaper way of fixing the problem? What exactly is the problem?

Question: Anyone else remember hearing voices from their PC speakers while on dial up?

So my first computer was a windows 95 and we had dial up, and I used AOL desktop to play neopets and stuff. I vividly remember as a kid sometimes hearing people speaking through my speakers- muffled like a static filled phone call. I would play my little leap frog games and scoobydoo PC games and the voices would scare the ever loving crap out of me. Was I the only one who experienced this? Or did this happen often? Does anyone have a link to an article or video talking about this occurrence? I can’t find anything on it and it’s bugging me. Just things ya wonder about at 3am

Question: Native English speakers, could you please help me with these issues:?

Are these sentences correct:

1. “As much as I love donoughts, I don’t know how I would react TOWARDS those donoughts.”

2. “My major complaint about many authors, is that don’t have anything to say.
UPON this, some claim that their works ar not worth for the story, but for the characters.”

What languages are perceived as classy or fancy to French speakers?

In English, this might be demonstrated by using the word boutique rather than shop, or by saying au contraire rather than on the contrary, because to English speakers French is commonly perceived as high-class or fancy (at least in American/British English) and sometimes that’s the feel the speaker is going for.

If French speakers were to substitute in a foreign word for no reason other than that it could be perceived as more classy or prestigious, which language or languages would it tend to come from?

If, after Aerovistae’s able editing of the original question as above, the sense of the question is still unclear, I want to emphasize the fact that words like ’boutique’ or ‘au contraire’ have a unique status in English in that they

  • sound distinctly foreign and

  • replace more ordinary words of the same meaning.

There are words to sound more learned or pedantic without sounding foreign, e.g. ‘lachrymose’ for ‘tearful.’ Others don’t have a more ordinary alternative, e.g. ‘gestalt’ in ‘gestalt psychology’ or ‘allegro’ and ‘andante.’

These ‘fancy foreign sounding’ words in English are predominantly from French. It’s very possible that French does not have an equivalent, and that would be an answer.

In other words: Whatever may be the shortcomings of this question, it is not vague.

Question: How do I get audio with a PS3 and external speakers?

So I know this is a bit old, but I have a ps3 that I can play with on a monitor. Only problem is the monitor doesn’t have speakers. To solve this problem with ps4 I bought a pair of desktop speakers that plug directly into the ps4 controller,s audio Jack (3.5mm) the ps3 doesnt have this on the system or controller so how could I get audio using my external speaker?

Active 2.0 (or 2.1) speakers for (older) video game consoles

I need active speakers. Preferably 2.0, but 2.1 would work, too.

The speakers will sit on a table, right next to a CRT. They will primarily be used for older video game consoles (from SNES to Dreamcast). The players will sit circa 1-2 meters in front of them.

  • I would prefer a cinch/RCA input (red and white cables). If they don’t have one, I’d need a recommendation for a suitable adapter, too.

  • I would like to be able to connect headphones. If connected, the speakers should be muted automatically.

  • Power plug for Germany.

Budget: I’m hoping for less than 80 € (shipping to Germany).

If multiple sources can be connected via cinch (so no need to manually switch the cables when switching the console) and/or if newer consoles can be connected (optical?), I’d be willing to pay 120 €, or 150 € if they are really good (future-proof, ‎long lifetime).
