Could I use my Discord reviews as a body of work for becoming a staff writer? [on hold]

I’ve written game reviews for a Discord server for 10 months straight, and I’ve thought about becoming a staff writer one day.

I’m worried that it would seem unprofessional since anyone could contribute a review to the server.

Do all of the Stack Exchange staff have access to a user’s information?

When a user of Stack Exchange runs into trouble, e.g. gets into an argument with another user or moderator and incurs a suspension, I understand that volunteer diamond moderators and some Stack Exchange staff (Community Managers + the staff that gets the Contact Us messages) have access to a user’s history.

I was wondering whether anyone who works at Stack Exchange also has the same access to a user’s history – people from the CEO, to the VP of Marketing/Sales, all the way down to, let’s say the kitchen staff.

Which CMS/WebApp should I choose for Staff-Works management? [on hold]

I am a member in a non-profit organization having more than 100 members. I am in the division of allocating works & getting feedback/status of works from all members. My requirement is:

I will allocate works for my members. For example I will allocate a work “Buy 25 plants” to Member-A. and another similar work to Member-B. I will get feedback/status of works allocated to my members. Emailing, Scheduling the works, too. Which CMS/WebApp should I choose for my work?

I know, Choices/Preferences depend & differ on every person’s need. I am not asking a choice. I have googled as much as I could. Couldn’t find any such software. So asking here a way to start my search!

What are the specific hours of the day that remote Stack Overflow staff work?

How are the different time zones of remote team members at Stack Overflow accounted for?

In a recent interview Joel Spolsky mentions that remote work is best done within similar time zones to allow high bandwidth communication through Google hangouts, slack etc.

In the interview Joel says “We pretty much hire people in Western Europe and North America” & “We overlap 4 or 5 hours a day”

Does this mean that Stack Overflow only hires on the East Coast of the USA?

If Stack Overflow does hire on the West Coast, how is the time zone difference of 10 hours accounted for between the West Coast and Western Europe?

How can a staff fell stormtroopers in Rogue One?

Would you even feel the blows of a staff through your armor? We are not told that the monk character in Rogue One has superhuman strength, and it seems odd that he can topple stormtroopers with one swing. What good is a stormtrooper’s armor if it doesn’t even protect you from a staff?

Senior staff member hinted at a promotion to a new position

I work in a support role in an expanding company.

While I was working, a more senior staff member I’ve never met before came to me and said there is likely to be a new role soon in a higher position, and told me about it and asked whether I could do it.

We wear different uniforms depending on our role and area in the company, so that’s how I know he is more senior.

I have skills that I don’t need for my position and I think the position he described would be more suitable, and I think there is no one else in my section who would be qualified to do that job.

He asked whether I planned to continue working at the company for a long time, and I said I do.

I told him I could do the job, and told him about my experience in similar roles.

He said “great” and walked away.

From a game theory perspective, I don’t know whether he asked about whether I plan to stay at the company for a long time because he wants to find someone permanent for the new position, or whether he used the story of a new position to break the ice in preparation for finding out whether I plan to stay at the company for some other reason.

Each seems equally likely to me, but maybe 1 is more likely than the other.

My question is: what should I do now?

Assuming there will be a new position and that he just wanted to make sure I wanted to stay with the company for a long time before offering it to me, should I just forget about it? If the new position is created and I’m the most suitable person for it, he or someone else will ask me again.

If they find someone else for the position, I don’t expect they would come and tell me that it has been filled, and I don’t want to be waiting forever.

Or should I ask him again after a few days?
