How get intersection of polygons in the same table by PostGIS?

I have a single table of over 1000 polygons in postgreSQL (with PostGIS), and I have a field “evaluation_type” that only receives two values, either ‘good'(green) or ‘bad'(red), as you can see in the picture below.

Once some ‘bad’ and ‘good’ polygons overlap, I’d like to use a PostGIS function where I can get the following:

And in the attribute table I’d have
– ‘good’
– ‘bad’
– ‘fair’: For the intersections

I’d like the result layer (the one containing the intersection) in a “2D” layer, in other words, I want no overlap between the intersects. It’s because, in the end, the thing I’m looking for is to count, for each small little polygon, how many ‘good’ and ‘bad’ polygons it represents, see below the hypothetical attribute table I want to have.

  • If the small polygon only represents a intersection of ‘good’ polygons it will receive an value of ‘good’ and will have 0 in the field ‘count_bad’
  • If the small polygon only represents a intersection of ‘bad’ polygons it will receive an value of ‘bad’ and will have 0 in the field ‘count_good’
  • If the small polygon represents a intersection of ‘bad’ and ‘good’ polygons it will receive an value of ‘fair’ and will have 0 counts > 0 in both fields ‘count_good’ and ‘count_bad’

As far as I remember in ArcGIS Union tool, it would break the intersections. I realized that ST_Union behaves a bit different. I used the following code and it returned a dissolved polygon.

Do you have a hint, how could I get such result I described?

Round table seating probability with 8 people

Mr. A, Mr. B and 6 more people wants to sit around round table. We need to find out the probability that Mr. A and Mr. B will sit near each other. First of all we need to describe (Ω,F,P)

I think n=(8−7)!=5040 than Mr. A and Mr. B we can keep as one because we want them to sit near each other. Tham m=(7−1)!∗2=1440 Than P=m/n=1440/5040=2/7 Is ir right?

And how I should describe (Ω,F,P)?

MySQL Create Table with Partition Very Slow on server machine

Following create table statement with Partition

runs in 10 Second on My Development Machine windows 7, i5 , 8GBRam, single disk

runs in 16 Second on Virtual Machine windows server 2012 , xeon 2GHz , 615MB Ram, single disk

While takes 100 Seconds on my server machine Windows server 2008 R2 Standard, xeon 2.4 2 Processors, 32 GB Ram, ATA SCSI Mirror drives

I am not able to understand why there is so much performance difference ..

MySQL update select one table from another

I’m struggling to get this MySQL query to work and hoping someone out there can help please.

I wish to “copy” one record from table traincomprofiler to course_dates where both tables share the column ‘user_id’. Currently the following code works to ‘select’ the correct data for the table traincomprofiler:

SELECT t1.cb_area_code
FROM traincomprofiler as t1, traincomprofiler AS t2 
WHERE t1.cb_role = 'services'
AND t1.cb_service_name = t2.cb_service_name
AND t2.user_id = [user_id] ;

(Note: The [user_id] simply establishes the id of the currently logged in user for CB)

So, when I have tried to insert into the table course_dates using the following:

INSERT INTO course_dates
SET area_code =
(SELECT t1.cb_area_code
FROM traincomprofiler as t1, traincomprofiler AS t2 
WHERE t1.cb_role = 'services'
AND t1.cb_service_name = t2.cb_service_name
AND t2.user_id = [user_id] ) ;

It results in the following error:

Duplicate entry '0' for key 'user_id'

Then I try to UPDATE with:

UPDATE course_dates
SET area_code =
(SELECT t1.cb_area_code
FROM traincomprofiler as t1, traincomprofiler AS t2 
WHERE t1.cb_role = 'services'
AND t1.cb_service_name = t2.cb_service_name
AND t2.user_id = [user_id] ) ;

Results in every record in course_dates.area_code being populated with the result rather than just the correct user!
This SQL query is being run through Community Builder Auto Action which is a great way for me to work with MySQL but this has me stumped.
Can anyone help please?

I am trying to delete any record in my table that has a null value in a certain field (the Grid_Code field) and the code I have does not return any errors and seems to run fine, but doesn’t actually delete the records with null values.

Here is my code:

with arcpy.da.UpdateCursor(fc, 'Grid_Code') as cursor:
    for row in cursor:
         if (row[0] == ''):
            cursor.DeleteRow(row)
         #I also tried adding this and got the same result:
         else:
             pass

Any ideas about what I am doing wrong?

#1932 table does not exist in engine

I want to run my website (localhost) on both my pc and laptop, so, after I finish all the database on phpmyadmin on the pc, I copied the file from xampp -> mysql-> data -> newdb(the database I created), store in the flash drive, transfer to the laptop, and store in the same place as pc. But after I open the phpmyadmin, I saw those table in the phpmyadmin, but it shows “#1932 table does not exist in engine” when I click it. And I don’t think I can access those data tables, how to solve it.

QGIS Attribute table – How to merge the values of $area field of several elements by the same attribute…

I have a land use vector layer with polygons representing forest, farming, urban aggregates, etc. Each polygon has a field with its area. I was trying to intersect it with buffers of different diameters (50m, 100m, 500m) around points and then obtain the area of each land use inside that buffer in QGIS 3.2.2.

The problem is the intersect tool in Vector -> Geoprocessing Tools does not change the field Area on the resulting intersected layer, rather it persists with the value of the entire polygon, even though only a fraction of it is inside the buffer.

I tried several solutions but none worked to solve this, so I decided on a workaround. On the intersected layer, I added a field $area which shows the area in map units of each cut polygon and then another column with the percentage, which is the map units of that cut polygon dividing by the overall area of the circular buffer. I won’t get the actual area of each land use but at least a percentage of occupation which is good enough.

Now the problem is that for each point there are several fragments of different polygons pertaining to the same land use. I wish to combine for each point the values of the same land use.

On this screenshot, you can see highlighted there are 3 pieces of land use “forest” on the 100m buffer around the same point 24. I wish to merge and sum these percentages and end up with a total percentage for each land use for each point.

Better yet if it were possible to create another table where the elements (lines) are merged by their land use, thus avoiding repeated values and providing a single element and respective total percentage value per land use type per point. On the example above, all three highlighted elements of land use Áreas florestais of point 24 would be collapsed into a single element with a single value for Point = 24, land use = Áreas florestais and Perc = sum(0.068+0.037+0.147)

Get table name from union query?

This is my query

SELECT Id, productName, Largeimagepath, Discount, Price, Image FROM tablename1 where Active =1

It is working properly.

Now I want to fetch the table name for the respective productName in future.

  1. So how can I fetch it?

I tried AS.. like this:

SELECT Id, productName, Largeimagepath, Discount, Price, Image
FROM tablename3 AS tablename
where Active = 1;

but didn’t get output.

  1. How shall I correct the query and also Improve the performance of query?
